2012 : recap + behind-the-scenes

  here we go with the classic 'recap-the-year-post'. :P

wow, 2012....a year that held so many happy memories and experiences.

in some ways, that year went by fast, and in other ways slow.

overall it was a year of doing new things and growing.

laughing and making new friends.

visiting old ones.

spending time with my family.

traveling to new places.

photographing new things.

purchasing a new camera and other gear.

growing up more.

as I look back on each year of my life and things that have clicked into place...

they haven't 'just happened.'

 

I'm abundantly grateful and humbled by how God works--

His ways and plans aren't often how I think things should go.

"for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are Your ways than my ways.."

And that's exactly how it should be.

There are countless times where God perfectly made things fall into place-

and I had no control over that.

He gets the glory!

It's always interesting seeing pictures of yourself taking pictures. :P

kind of like hearing your voice on a tape recorder or something, haha!

right before I shot my first ever engagement session...

sometimes when you're a photographer you get to shoot by interesting things.

like animals.

or more specifically, pigs.

or a snake.

or cows.

and you get burrs stuck on you.

or you get bored and take pictures of your feet. :P

haha sometimes branches get in our way so we break them. :)

I brought my brother Jurgen with me on a couple of my last family shoots in November,

which was super helpful and fun to have a few pictures he took of me shooting.
