I started thinking about this last year sometime..
how much we communicate as photographers and the impact we have through our images.
and with that, how we ourselves mirror into our work.
I read a huge variety of blogs, and it is really interesting to see how the artists channel themselves
and their personality into their pictures.
fun people that always seem to be laughing produce pictures where their clients are mostly laughing or are having fun.
thoughtful photographers naturally produce more serene pictures.
and so on.
which makes you think about what you communicate with what you shoot--
because part of you made the image you got, and satisfied you as an artist.
or it should.
It's so easy to get stuck in the 'pinterest/inspired-by-others' rut, which I know I fall into often.
thinking I should pose this family exactly like this idea on pinterest, or follow the rule of thirds
or whatever, and I wonder how much more beautiful and creative our pictures would be
if we shot just for ourselves and no one else.
taking pictures not because we want to get a certain number of likes on facebook,
or that it hopefully would get on pinterest and mayyybe get 5 repins ;)
but because we have a voice--a way to show the same thing--love, family, children through our eyes.
“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place…
I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see
and everything to do with the way you see them.”
--Elliott Erwitt
just a little rambling from what I've been thinking about from time to time.
on another note, I got to spend last weekend with my sweet friend Alisa and do her senior pictures--
fun and windy day and I'm excited to share more pictures soon from her shoot. :)
hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for sharing! And also love the new fresh design!
ReplyDeleteAmen!! Couldn't agree more.
ReplyDeleteOr how creative our pictures would be if we shot for the glory of God instead of man's praise? :) There will be no true lasting value to our shots unless we shoot every frame to the glory of God and for His satisfaction, not man's. Then and only then should we be satisfied with the image we have produced. Just a little something that I have been thinking about. :)
